Rob specializes in working with youth, adolescents, and adults who have experienced adversity, uncertainty, existential confusion, or trauma. Rob has helped clients redefine their boundaries, examine their relationships, set goals for themselves, and hold space for self-reflection and understanding.
Rob uses a client-centered approach that emphasizes the importance of cultivating a relationship with the client. This connection provides clients with the safety and security to look within themselves and find their sense of empowerment. Rob is trained in Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy and Philosophical Counselling. Often combining these techniques to best suit the needs of the individual, thereby providing therapies that are unique and beneficial to the client.
Rob prides himself in being an authentic therapist, one who desires to connect with his clients on a close human level. He identifies that connection is everything in our society and that without it we can feel confused, lonely, disoriented, and frustrated which results in poor mood, alienation and behavioural outbursts. Rob believes that kindness and understanding can help shift the beliefs of a client to see things in a different light.
Rob is a self-identified nerd who loves reading books and learning new things. He is an outdoor enthusiast who loves to hike, fish, snowboard, surf, kayak, skim board and just be out in nature. When he is not lost in a book or the woods, he enjoys spending quality time with his partner, two daughters and dog Kona. Rob believes that every individual can make a difference in their lives, the lives of others and the environment that they co-exist in.
Rob is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#17783). Throughout the course of his professional development, he has completed a BA in Education as well as a Masters in School Counselling through City University of Seattle. He has worked for over a decade with youth and adolescents who struggle to make connections in the school system and has worked in the public school system supporting learners from Kindergarten to Grade 12. While his training is largely in working with children and adolescence, Rob has identified that these years play an integral part in the lived experiences of his adult clients as well. Additionally, he has had the trust of working with Metis and Indigenous Youth and Adults; and supporting women and children of domestic and sexual abuse.
